I am convinced that students and educators have brilliance to bring to all mathematical learning experiences and should be encouraged, coached, and celebrated for that brilliance. I have coached educators to create thinking classrooms in school districts in Colorado, Washington, Missouri, and Michigan, where I support teachers to intentionally plan for student thinking. I have facilitated student thinking in my mathematics classroom for more than 30 years as a National Board Certified Teacher in Texas, Colorado, Maryland, and Guinea, West Africa. I believe deeply in giving every student the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of mathematics through rich, rigorous, and relevant mathematical learning experiences.
