34 years as a teacher, instructional coach, and instructional coordinator

I am a veteran classroom teacher, having taught math and science for 18 years in grades 6th-12th. Over the last 16 years, I have been a building coach, district coach, and instructional coordinator. During this time, I was actively involved with the Colorado Department of Education in assessment writing as well as state testing. I have also taught math at Metro State University for the last 10 years as a part-time adjunct professor.

My passion is to support teachers in creating classroom learning environments that promote thinking. In my experience, the complexities of shifting instructional practice from an answer-based classroom to a thinking-based classroom are significant and require the support of an instructional coach to build a culture of thinking in a math class.
